Gionee shocked us when they released the 5.5mm Gionee Elife S5.5, which some thought was too thin for a smartphone. However, going by the latest news from around the block, it looks like the ‘thinness’ trend is here to stay.
Philips is far from the most talked about smartphone manufacturer here on GizChina, and the maker seems to have taken offence for the same. Which is perhaps why, it could release the Philips I908 smartphone with a thickness of less than 5.5mm!
Under the hood, the device is uncannily similar to the Gionee Elife S5.5 – a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, 2GB RAM, MediaTek MT6592 1.7GHz octa-core CPU, and a 13 mega-pixel camera, all of which feature on the slim Gionee phone as well.
We don’t know for sure how thin the device will be, or for that matter, when it will launch. Being the enthusiasts we are, we hope for a thinner phone to take technology forward; not necessarily because we love thin phones, but if the same stuff can be packed in a thinner profile, more can be fitted in a slightly thicker phone!
Let us know what you think about this war for thinnest phone in the world!

Useless and retarded competition. This is where Phillips show they have no idea what’s going on. People need Smartphones that last 2-5 Days on regular usage. This means big batterys not slim shit like this. What’s the use of the best specs if that thing runs out of juice after 6 hours???
Huawei p6 HAS 2000mah and its last 1 and half days on average usage. The thinness is meant to attract attention obviously. Otherwise nobody would care to buy a philips phone.
Sry not impressed. My Cubot GT99 lasts 3-4 Days with moderate Usage. That is impressive with a 2200mah….
Its good enough for many. The premium looks and everyday feel are worth more than a 1 week battery life.
Define “average usage”.
Look at the demand for the THL 5000, people really want big batteries
Hi Yash
Like to see this philips phone in India ! Btw Mi3 has been launched in India at cool price.
Thanks for this info.
